Back pain is today the most common cause of sick leaves in the world. Over 540 million people are expected to suffer from lumbar spine problems. The reasons are, of course, many and varied, but in the western world our increasingly sedentary lifestyle is certainly a strong contributing factor. When sitting in old-fashioned chairs there is a 90 degree angle in the hip that causes incorrect load on the spine and disks. The disks are pushed together at the front and the muscles of the back are constantly stretched. This causes poor circulation, weakens the muscles and increases the risk of lumbago and ruptured disk.
An international study, published in the Lancet in March, now shows that millions of people get bad care for their ailments. Many are treated with methods that have no scientifically proven effect, or are told to rest. What they really need is exercise that improves the stability and mobility of the back. Prevention and early rehabilitation are key points in this.
Start the change by changing your chair
How we sit makes a big difference – what would be a a better way to start preventing back problems than to change the chair?
On Salli Saddle Chairs you can sit in a vertical position, in which we are at our strongest. The pelvis is in an upright position on the two-part seat, without harmful or unpleasant pressure on the genital area. The disks are evenly loaded and small movements make it possible to strengthen the back and neck muscles while sitting in a proud posture. The circulation functions without disturbance throughout the day. The upright posture also results in other things that promote health and wellbeing, such as deeper breathing, higher energy levels, better digestion, mental strength and better concentration.
Salli is both preventing and rehabilitating back problems!
